Department Leader: Michael Carver
Each created being of God has a unique purpose and fulfills a special plan meant only for him or her. Because of that belief, Lavon Drive Baptist Church counts it a privilege to be able to minister to those who may be physically or mentally challenged that the Lord sends our way. Caring workers patiently and lovingly devote their Sunday morning to those with special needs during the Sonshine Class.
This ministry, designed for any age or specific need, reaches out to those with limited abilities. Through healthy snacks, interactive games and activities, simple songs, and basic Bible lessons, these special “lambs” are tenderly ministered to. Because of a teacher/student ratio of one to two, supervision is optimal and individual needs can be met by workers who have passed background checks and wear photo identification badges at all times. The Sonshine Class reaches out to those who may be overlooked or pushed aside due to their limitations.
The Sonshine Class can be found in the East Wing, Room 106, across from the church nursery. A brightly decorated room with plenty of space, it is an inviting place to be.
